The Fear Psychosis  March 29

Psalm 112:7:  Blessed is the One who Loves the LORD:  6 Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous man will be remembered forever. 7 He will not fear bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. 8 His heart is assured; he does not fear, until he looks in triumph on his foes

Today’s post is a little politically based because the world is swinging right now on the pendulum of politics and causing unrest everywhere; however, it is applicable to all our situations in life.  The fear psychosis when lived in its wave actually causes the thing that you fear to happen.

Rudyard Kipling “Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are our own fears.”

Let me share this by graphic example in politics, since I have seen that happen and seeing that trend again.

For example, in a political party, there will be people of different opinions, not in the main essence and ethos of the party, but in tiny differences.  For example, some of the people of the party may want a certain leader to lead and another part of the party want another thing.  This is debatable within the party, and ultimately, if the party wins the election, the leaders in the party will take that final call.  To waste sweat over it now will only weaken the energy of the party.

Fear has led to infighting between party workers suspicious of other’s motives.  This has destroyed people, parties, families and common causes.

Then there is another group of people opposite that party who might even support that party but want things to change, so they keep challenging that party.  They too are doing it out of fear thinking that that other party is messing up so they want to control the narrative for them to change and do things differently, but in reality they are destroying not only that party, but all hope for their own cause.  Their challenging is actually giving greater strength to the big enemy because it is done destructively out of a spirit of fear.

Identify: The key in overcoming the fear psychosis is to identify your real enemy, the real one that wants to eliminate you. Once you identify your real enemy, things will fall into perspectives.  Right perspectives is cleansing and healing to the mind.  All the other little irritations and ants will run away.  Petty infighting is going to weaken you.  Divided energy weaken the cause. It sends a bad signal to the others watching to see party members fighting among themselves.  It would be better they discuss things out on a one to one basis or in meetings. Sometimes, we fear someone else is trying to defeat what we want to achieve so we nab them down, but in doing so, we are crushing our own people and weakening our ethos.

Unify: Once you know who is your real enemy, unite together. Be open to even be supportive of those who are not really with you, but are not against you.  Mark 9:40:  For the one who is not against us is for us.  Most of the fears are baseless, eventually, these things will get sorted out once a party win.  The focus should be on the bigger fight, so hold each other and stop bickering about tiny things.  The more you do that, the rifts and shifts will increase.  The weaker people will walk out and regroup because they cannot handle the infighting and feel insecure.

Simplify:  Be humble.  Humility enables us to see things more clearly.  Once pride comes in, we become prejudiced and stop listening to our conscience, reason and the good advice of others. Fear mixed with pride also makes one elevate some people and keep others down.  The root of this fear is insecurity mixed with jealousy.   This complicates everything.  Pride makes us want to control, a controlling spirit always ultimately will bring its own downfall.  Pride makes the mind very cloudy. Pride comes before a fall.  Proverbs, 16:18, Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

I hope this simple exercise of the mind will deliver us all from our fears and allow greater victory through identification, unification and simplification.

If you don’t do this, fear will take over and its networking of crippling complexities will eventually paralyze the very purpose you want to achieve.

Let go, let love, let life and let God work.

Rita
