Roots
Uprooted by the wild raging storm
Howling winds tossed up quaking ground
Ripping down the giant tree
Who became frail as a flower
Roots like white nerves sighing
Exposed, bare, helpless, dying
The tree, like a soul, was crying
Like a heart uncovered to the cruel world
A tree so strong and powerful
With roots like a tender heart
Exposed to violent elements
Shrunk, feeble, and slowly dying
Never expose the roots
