The Diety Attributes of Christ, Messiah as Given in the Bible

The diety of Christ

The deity of Christ makes it possible for us to have deep communion with Christ. Only deity can listen to a million prayers at a single flash moment, as Jesus does for us. In Matthew 18:20, He says, For where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them. Christ attending to billion prayers on one platform! Then He said, in John 15:5: “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. This is the Voice of Christ speaking in Divinity present with all His believers, abiding, present with all. Omnipresent, the attribute of God.

Jesus is the fulfillment of all the prophecies of the Torah and the Old Testament as the Messiah, the Savior.  If one studies the Scriptures, they will find hundreds of prophecies fulfilled in Christ as the Messiah. The Bible has never been changed as some people erroneously teach.

Recently, an extremist on Twitter was attacking me for my faith in Christ, and finally he shared an article that Jesus was an invention of the Romans in those days and He wasn’t real. While I realized this man filled with hatred.  I knew he could not know God, who is Love. I was reminded that cults figures die within ten years while fake inventions barely last a few months. If Jesus was fake, why are there 2.2 billion Christians in the world, the highest presently of all faiths in the world, of 31.50%? This is because Jesus is alive, working powerfully mightily in lives, manifesting His power. People will not believe in someone fake for so long.  They have seen and experienced Jesus and their lives were changed.  Millions come to the faith through healing, deliverance, as they did too in the Book of Acts in the Bible. Jesus is alive, His Holy Spirit is the fire, water, and wine in our hearts.

2 Samuel 22:: 3-4: 3 The God of my rock; In Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my Savior; thou savest me from violence. 4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Abiding in Christ is cure for every evil, sickness, deliverance, breakthrough, miracles. His sweet presence takes out the bitter wormwood eroding in our souls and delivers us from gusty excesses of greed, lust and temptation, and breaks the strongholds that grip our souls in paralytic slumber . In Christ, our restful position in heavenly places does not shatter our peace of whether we live in the mountain of honor or in the valley of humiliation. Abiding in Jesus, we are supernaturally covered with the wings of God, and underneath are His everlasting arms, safe and secure.

In John’s Gospel, Jesus teaches His disciples about this communion. He informs them that He has already made them clean (John 15:3), and has pronounced them clean during the upper room foot washing (John 13:10-11). This ceremony was a symbolic display of His incarnation, atoning sacrifice, resurrection, and ascension. This is why He declared them clean, with the exception of Judas.

Jesus says this hours before going to the cross to bear their sins and make them clean. So Jesus’ declaration in John 15:3 is a statement of legal status.

He follows this with the command “Abide in Me, and I in you” (John 15:4). To “abide” is a verb. It is active. Abiding in Christ is not a feeling or a belief, but something we do. It means to “remain” or “stay” and entails far more than the idea of continued belief in the Savior.

John 15:5 further illustrates this abiding relationship with a parallel relationship of a vine and a branch. We (the branches) are to be connected to Him (the Vine) for our life and sustenance. Only in Him can we bear fruit.

J.C. Ryle explains, “To abide in Christ means to keep up a habit of constant close communion with Him–to be always leaning on Him, resting on Him, pouring out our hearts to Him, and using Him as our Fountain of life and strength, as our chief Companion and best Friend. To have His words abiding in us, is to keep His sayings and precepts continually before our memories and minds, and to make them the guide of our actions and the rule of our daily conduct and behavior.

John Piper says, Hour-by-hour abiding in Jesus means hour-by-hour trusting Him to meet all your needs and be all our treasure.

Abiding has a continual, hour-by-hour nature to it, a constant looking to Jesus through the Scriptures.

To abide in Christ daily requires dependence upon the Holy Spirit in which we do three things: Spend time Walk by faith Engage in intentional actions: We make an effort by exercising our will daily to walk in Christ, we walk by faith and not by the dismaying news bombarding us; we make a plan to abide throughout our days with focused time; read Scripture, pray, live in community with others, engage with them, talk to them lift them up and pray for them. Living a Christian life can never be about only me. Our walk is inclusive and relational to others. We fight sin and resist temptation, cast out demons and command demons to leave us when we are attacked (intentional actions). We do this as we live dependent upon the Holy Spirit to bring us closer to Christ.

To be “in Christ” means to have a new legal standing and a new relational orientation. We do not solely want to be made right with God—we want to be with God. We are new creations in Christ, freed from sin and worldly pursuits to abide in Him. And He gives us what we need to pursue this by giving us Himself.

Are you eager to say with David, “Earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you?” May the Holy Spirit spark in us a want for more of Christ. May we yearn with holy urgency to know the depths and riches of the love of Christ, grasped through abiding.

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life: When Jesus says I am – In the Greek language, “I am” is a very intense way of referring to oneself. It would be comparable to saying, “I myself, and only I, am.” Several other times in the Gospels we find Jesus using these words. In Matthew 22:32 Jesus quotes Exodus 3:6, where God uses the same intensive form to say, “I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” In John 8:58, Jesus said, “Truly, truly I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am.” The Jews clearly understood Jesus to be calling Himself God because they took up stones to stone Him for committing blasphemy in equating Himself with God. In Matthew 28:20, as Jesus gave the Great Commission, He gave it emphasis by saying, “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” When the soldiers came seeking Jesus in the garden the night before His crucifixion, He told them, “I am he,” and His words were so powerful that the soldiers fell to the ground (John 18:4–6). These words reflect the very name of God in Hebrew, Yahweh, which means “to be” or “the self-existing one.” It is the name of power and authority, and Jesus claimed it as His own.

The truth – Again Jesus used the definite article to emphasize Himself as “the truth.” Psalm 119:142 says, “Your law is the truth.” In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reminded His listeners of several points of the Law, then said, “But I say unto you . . .” (Matthew 5:22, 28, 32, 34, 39, 44), thereby equating Himself with the Law of God as the legal and authoritative standard of righteousness. In fact, Jesus said that He came to fulfill the Law and the prophets (Matthew 5:17). Jesus, as the incarnate Word of God (John 1:1) is the source of all truth.

The life – Jesus had just been telling His disciples about His impending death, and now He was claiming to be the source of all life. In John 10:17–18, Jesus declared that He was going to lay down His life for His sheep, and then take it back again. He spoke of His authority over life and death as being granted to Him by the Father. Jesus has the ultimate authority of life and death. He said in Revelation 1:18 I am the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

In John 14:19, He gave the promise that “because I live, you also will live.” The deliverance He was about to provide was not a political or social deliverance (which most of the Jews were seeking), but a true deliverance from a life of bondage to sin and death to a life of freedom in eternity.

In these words, Jesus was declaring Himself the great “I Am,” the divine path to heaven, the only true measure of righteousness, and the source of both physical and spiritual life. Jesus was staking His claim as the very God of Creation, the Lord who blessed Abraham, and the Holy One who lives in eternity. Once the disciples were spiritually illumined, they became changed people, and the world has never been the same with the power of the Gospel living in lives.

How do we follow Him today? The same way the disciples did long ago. They had a living relationship with Christ. They listened to Him and obeyed Him. Today, we take time apart to listen to Christ, speaking deep in our spirits, w pray. We confess our sins, take up His authority, cast out demons and rebuke the powers of darkness. We believe that He died to take the punishment of ours sins and rose from the dead to give us new life. We follow His steps in the Holy Spirit and tell others the truth about sin, righteousness, and judgment. Our life in the Vine in Christ assures us of our salvation. Once we are born again, the Holy Spirit will never let us live a life in the flesh..

Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25).

In order to abide in the Vine, we have to be convinced who Jesus is, and comprehend His power, might and authority with our spiritual understanding in order to appropriate His Divine Nature and rise to a new level walk with Him.
