September 23 – Glory Bearers
Exodus 34:29: When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the LORD.
When the world rushes and rages, and feet are dusty and weary, its time to sit still, stop, and walk in another direction. Go to glory mountain, and rest awhile. Now is it that easy to go? Sometimes just the effort of trying becomes too much. The interruptions of life crowd us. But listen, what if we get an interruption from Heaven, an anointed breeze that stirs us up to go to glory mountain? Sometimes Christ does that for us. He sends heavenly interruptions to remind us to take our dusty feet to the Streams of Living Water where our feet are washed, refreshed and then He takes us on the onward route to Glory Mountain. And finally, we are there, standing in the most Holy and glorious place to be. Shimmering golden light, billows of pure white smoke, inhaling the Heavenly aroma of the most exotic flowers and sounds of music that make us fall at His feet in pure worship. Worship and worship and worship. Finally, we have to come away, but when we come down, our faces are aglow with the heavenly flow, sparkling with Divine anointing, renewed and filled with glory and light, life becomes new again for us!
A new fire burns with passion, the active love of God. Jesus said that in the last days the love of many shall wax cold, lacking in fire (Matthew 24:12) and John warned against our loving the world which will work to reduce the love of God (John 2:15-17). The lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life, all connive cunningly to snuff out the positive fire of passion for God, which the Holy Spirit shed in our heart.
Paul wrote that the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit given to us. We cannot love God on our own initiative, because the old sin nature in us has ruined us, weakened our essentials cores, so only the Holy Spirit works in us.
We are glory bearers through Christ. The more we are emptied of ourselves the more we will bear His glory, Jesus was emptied of Himself and bore the glory of God on the Earth (Philippians 2:5-11), we are to empty ourselves to bear God’s glory.
