We elect our leaders with deep faith fiercely fighting up for them, protecting them from slurs, and arguing with strangers at length on their behalf.
This is an address to every politician and political party in India on behalf of every citizen in India. 🙏
I am not a party worker, but I am still a potential voter. In the dead of the night, I have written articles hoping to stir up flames of patriotism for the party I support.
I stood under the scorching sun before the COVID pandemic, listening to your blazing election speeches that fanned flames of hope in me. I dreamt of a better India as your words wove threads of aspiration in my heart. You became the bridge between my ambitions and my goals. You assured me of a golden glittering future with prosperity and abundance.
However, over time, I never saw you act on ravaging issues that haunted me during dark nightmarish nights and turned my lurking fears into shrieking zones of terror.
I saw mad mobs suddenly erupt with fumes of genocidal hate speech that court judges did not feel worthy to qualify as crime ignoring the fact that genocide did not start in the gas chambers, it started with seeds of hate breeding in fanaticized hearts that guttered out hate speech.
I saw people in the nation breaking apart, ever crumbling down, screaming and weeping, and never binding, but I saw you daily unwinding. I saw people of similar ideologies turning against each other and you yourself were slipping, you couldn’t stop it. It does not matter if you fall, crash or fail, for failing is inevitable in life’s hard cruel race, but what frightens me is your inability to get up, and your ineptitude to unite diversity.
When supporters from your own camp start roaring and snarling at me and others with baring fangs for diverse opinions, I realized unity in diversity is now becoming a faded dream and we are turning into another fascist nation, no different than North Korea, where they want everything and everyone to be a carbon copy of what they want you to say.
When I see that your own party members are using the same tactics of dictators, I am beginning to lose hope. Is this the India that Gandhi died for? Today, some groups are defiling Gandhi’s legacy with lies. The man, who like Nelson Madela had a powerful gift to unite all Indians alive, rich and powerful, farmers, soldiers, and intellectuals, but when he tried to unite Hindu and Muslim for oneness, they killed him, in the end, to annihilate his fight into nothingness. Did Gandhi die in vain so that so-called “liberals” can become dictators along with the Modi right-wingers?
It is very hard to reach you nowadays, my political representative. My desperate entreaties for your interventions are clearly falling on deaf ears. I now feel you have shut all doors on me and closed me out. Technology too failed to bridge the widening gap between us. Emails and inbox messages are ignored. No one is listening anymore.
Your horse-trading leaves me dumbfounded! Your treachery has shocked me beyond my senses. I voted for you, but you in turn betrayed your party to join hands with my enemies? And all for a bit of money? You have proved that you can betray the nation for a bag of cash.
I have learned my lesson. I have lost faith in you and my trust is never in you again, but I hold on to a larger truth and for this, I will pledge my support. People come and go, parties rise and fall, but this greater force never will. It is time we Indians unite and fight on this. This greater force is none other than our Indian Constitution and our sacred Preamble that declares India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. . It enshrines the principle that the government of my nation will be “For the People, By the People and Of the People.” And today, I beseech my country’s people to be aware of the strength that comes with being united. To stand up and fight against the attacks on the very foundation of our nation.
You, my political representative, if you rule well, will have no need for drama or propaganda. The people will love you and elect you repeatedly.
So I am rightfully justified when I as a citizen of India am upset when you let me down.
Also, my dear beloved government, taking care of me and all citizens is not a big favor to me and us; it is your sacred duty and responsibility.
When I write to stir up flames of patriotism for you, I am wrong, I should write to stir up patriotism for the nation and the Constitution.
We are here a billion in this nation
It is our aim to build up the new generation
In India where there is unity in diversity
In the spirit of innovation and liberation
