May 27 Overcoming Unbelief

John 20:24-29:  A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.”  28 Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”  29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Living in unbelief makes us angry. Our desire for more signs and wonders will never be satiated.  This is because we have clung to intellectual debates, false theologies and ideologies cluttered on the altar of our minds.  Overthinking in negative waves can destroy us.  We also have developed an orphan complex and victim mentality, and the revenge mindset.  This has infected our understanding and perception of God.  In this, we have an ingrained philosophy of unbelief.

We must ask God to deliver us from our orphan mindset where we are bitter with people in our families, maybe we really are orphans, but instead of focusing on our Abba Father, we play out our orphan heritage more often, talk about it more.  I remember a young lady in Twitter who kept telling everyone she was an orphan and needed money.  She had a spirit of unbelief by demanding money from people, and in time, this whole thing proved to be a scam. She really had a spirit of unbelief because she did not believe that God would take care of her so she hoodwinked people to get money out of them.

The victim mindset takes root when we do not understand our deeper identity. The victim mentality blocks our ability to function as God has created us to function. We keep blaming people, and abusing them for what they did in the past, we are angry with them in the present for not apologizing, but they never will.  I too had to learn that the hard way!

Finally, the revenge mindset has stopped many of us trusting God for His justice. We take things in our hands, and attack others.  This destroys a pure relationship with others, God and we hurt ourselves more than anyone else. We do this because we cannot trust God to take care of our battles, we cannot trust Him when He says, vengeance is mine.

Today, we have to rise up and believe God.  We have to trust Him and talk to Him, and only then will our lives change.
