May 25 One Window and One Door in the Ark
Genesis 8:6: “After forty days Noah opened a window he had made in the ark”
We have been made to believe the ark had only one door and one window. Though there are divided opinions on this, let us interpret this spiritually for once. The door is symbolic of Christ who is the door to God. There came a day, prior to the flood, when they were told to enter the ark, and shut themselves in. Noah was able to rest within the ark, secure from the waters of death, so we too can be assured of rescue from spiritual death and judgment inside the ark. This is symbolic of our lives that are hidden in God through faith and a spiritual walk in the Spirit.
The ark was a secure refuge from certain death; it was a type of Christ, who provides spiritual refuge for all who look unto Him. Noah’s obedience to the command of God to build and enter the ark typifies the people who walk by faith.
That one window in the ark was to prevent the people in the ark from looking at the destruction, death and sorrows in the sea. Imagine lakhs of people floating around in that ocean of death with refuse, stench, rotting dead bodies, scavenger birds of prey, and killer sharks in action. That one window, according to the design described looked upwards to Heaven and prevented them from looking out at the terrors of the sea.
As humans, we are never to be indifferent to the sorrows of the world, we are to pray, show empathy, give help when needed, be involved, but never engrossed. For example, I cannot dwell on the horrors happening each moment on Earth, it would swallow me in in depression, rage, anger, and revenge. We see so much rage on social media because we have too much information about all the wickedness around us. It is important to know, but after knowing, pray, do something, but do not dwell on it. Dwell on God, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, pray and then things will change, even in the world. Remember that dove in the ark, when it was let loose, it saw the refuse and garbage on the sea and returned back to the ark; however, the raven, symbolic of demons thrives on garbage did not return. Let us be like the dove, dwelling in God, and not on unclean things.
This is how we will be empowered in ministry to bring others to freedom, deliverance, hope, love, joy and peace
