May 20 – The God Who Answers by Fire
Matthew 3:11: 11 John said, “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. John was speaking of Jesus..He is called the baptizer by fire..because through the Holy Spirit, His Holy fire blazes in our hearts and transforms our lives and works through our prayers. Holy fire is powerful!
God very often speaks by fire. Fire comes in the form of great blessing, the Holy Spirit fire that baptizes us. With this fire, we are ignited with His presence, equipped with His power for healing, and for greater works for the Kingdom of God.
The second kind of fire comes in the form of calamity on earth, as we see in the verses above. In one dream, that fire was a calamity fire. This disaster could either cause people to draw nearer to God and perhaps even through prayers prevent it as He did with Nineveh where God did not allow disaster to strike the people due to their repentance.
The third kind of fire is the final judgmental fire at the end of time, the lake of burning fire. Revelation 21:8: This is the second death.” This fire is originally made for the demons and Satan. Humans too get into this fire, “Naraka.”
With all this said, there is hope:
Hope to believe that our prayers can reverse the disasters to come, that people will start exercising their spiritual authority over powers, kingdoms and principalities and pray as never before and even that the dreadful wars would not happen, hope through our prayers the COVID crisis would vanish like mist, hope through our prayers that hatred would disintegrate in the presence of Holy Love that comes from above. Prayer with Holy fire has the power to change destiny! The Bible says, “Pray without ceasing!”
1 Corinthians 3:16: Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” This is the promise that Christ gives us.
May the fire of God consume us and blaze brightly within us more and more.
