March 5 – The Power of an Excellent Spirit
Daniel 6: It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; 2 and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss. 3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. 4 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.
There was a plot against Daniel because he was extraordinarily gifted, faithful, highly intelligent and anointed. Hence, Jealousy! Remember, this excellent spirit came through the anointing and also integrity of Daniel.
It is important to maintain integrity throughout our lives. A spirit of integrity rewards us with both the gifts and the fruits of the Spirit. It is this spirit that gave Daniel favor with kings and rulers and promoted him.
Where ever integrity rules, harmony rules and the trust of the people rise. People always flock to the old schools, hospitals etc., because they know they can be trusted. Honesty, integrity, and faithfulness was the mark of these places.
However, we are also aware of people rising to start schools and hospitals in a spate of commercialism and not to serve and care for the community. Because of their lack of integrity, honesty, love and service, Divine supernatural protection leaves and many come under attack finally. Some of the evidence is seen on the news of certain scandals or abuses rising.
If we live in the light of integrity, honesty, purity and Truth, God will protect us, as He protected Daniel in the lions’ den. As we know, the lions’ mouths were shut. We too will shut the lions’ mouths, the people who bad-mouth us will be silenced and the people who want to kill us cannot because their mouths are closed and they will become powerless because the oil of anointing of integrity protects us, unless it is God’s will to take us.
Today, may we rise with an excellent spirit for this protects us in times of persecution. Be a Daniel with an excellent spirit. Learn and excel with excellence. Do everything faithfully to your best, in your work and everywhere.
