March 16 – For Such A Time As This – Standing Against Haman’s Plot of Genocide

Esther 4:14: For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

We are living in not so different times today, when we know that there are certain people from a certain faith who want to exterminate another group of people from another faith. Sounds barbaric and scary in the 21st Century, but the human heart is desperately wicked and unless one is born again in spirit and truth, people do fall prey to such evil designs.

Haman the Agagite’s plotted to destroy Mordecai. This was because Mordecai refused to bow down to Haman. However, God uses a woman, the Jewish queen, Mordecai’s niece to deliver the Jews. Man plans evil but God will have the final say. “The lot is cast into the lap of man, but its every decision is from the Lord ”Proverbs 16:33. In the end, Haman is hung from the very gallows that he had constructed to hang Mordecai! In a flash of a moment, his fate and destiny changed to gloom and death. His very own plans to annihilate a race from his nation brought his own death. In a paradox of situations, the plot of Haman reversed to his disadvantage and death! Many times, people fall into the very traps they laid out for others. We see this repeated in history.

Once again, it takes courage to stand against the plots of genocide. We need more people of courage to speak out against the plots and plans of such.

Alfred Lord Tennyson said, “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” Many times, we think our prayers cannot make a difference to the political color of our nation, but believe me, it really does! It was ironical that during a certain election going on in our country, there was actual governmental interference about prayers going on in WhatsApp groups! Well, at least they recognized the power of prayer!

1. God raised Esther for such a time as this. Esther was placed in a royal position to assist in the delivery of God’s divine plan. God sometimes places people in high positions to help us when the enemy is planning to destroy us. Look for those doors, opportunities, God will show you those people.

2. God gives us divine opportunities to alter situations. If we do not help the people that need us in the time of trouble, God will raise up someone new.

3. Be sensitive to help those in need. Esther called for a three-day fast before she met the king. We need to fast and prayer before we make steps such as these. After this fast, Esther was filled with courage. Esther said, “I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish” Esther 4:16. If King Xerxes did not lift his rod in favor when Esther entered, she would have been killed, but Esther found special favor with King Xerxes. Esther’s obedience saved God’s people from genocide. God uses everything and everybody for His divine purpose. Submit to His plans and designs.

In nations, evil people plot genocide and murder, but history is guided by God. Know that as we pray and turn to Him, every evil plot will be foiled and destroyed and God will put things in the right order.
