One could not stay as spiritual babes forever. But people don’t grow because they don’t allow themselves to evolve out of the chrysalis stage. Trapped in the body of adults, they fight like children. None of us are exceptions to the rule. Some of us “mature” ones too fall into the bait. So, while we classify between baby and big mature ones, the truth is fallibility is embedded in our DNA.
Now once we believe and are born again, regeneration happens because we believe in the redemption accomplished for us by the Son of God on the Cross. In that, we are crucified (spiritually) thus allowing the Holy Spirit to release His power into us and deliver us from the power of the flesh. Our belief is our release. However, for many, emotionalism and intellectualism takes over leaving very little room for the Holy Spirit to work!
As Believers in Christ, we have to die to intellectualism and emotionalism. These two isms are our downfall. Why? Because here, we cannot receive spiritual life and truth to the fullest, the way the Holy Spirit wants to bring it on! Those two thinking processes blocks our mind and soul channels to receive from the flow of spiritual life.
The Corinthians boasted of their great and lofty knowledge and wisdom, the most knowledgeable of all the churches at the time. They were “enriched in all knowledge” (1:5), but they still have tried to reason things out in the weigh of the world system and never got their answers. They had so many issues they couldn’t get rid of. It is like the ages of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle. Today, we too have intellectuals heavily schooled in Bible Colleges, which is fine. The danger happens when we suppress the Spirit life to think, learn and teach the Word applying it to our intellect, not connecting it to our spirits with the Holy Spirit. We crave for philosophical truth, nothing wrong with that. Divinity is wrapped in philosophy, vice versa, but soon, the roads must part because philosophy does not give us the solution, it laments over states and climates, but does not deliver us, while the Spirit sets us free.
Emotionalism fans our fires on cold dark nights, gives us a warm glow, which is wonderful. Emotions are our healthy indicators of the condition of our soul and we need emotions; but if we functioned only on emotions, we would get burnt out, seriously. Also as time ticks, the fire dies and we are left with cold hard reality that hits us in the chest. The truth is, emotionalism is not our deliverer.
Today, we see nations fighting for lands because their emotions were trapped in those lands. The Spiritual Human will see beyond that, we cannot hold our lands, our nations. One day, our soul has to depart and we will leave this Earth, and in that moment of Time, we will realize in a flash that all that mattered was our spiritual life. For many, their souls may heaped in cold ashes, deathly black smoke, and charred remains of a wasted life, wasted on hatred, abuse, frolicking in the lusts of the flesh. In all that, we never got to know the Saviour of the World, Yeshua, Jesus Christ, who actually ushers us to Heaven either personally or through His angels.
Now true spiritual knowledge is not our philosophical or our emotional insights, but is a union of the believer’s life with Truth. This encounter releases spiritual Truth and insight. We claim the superiority of science over God, but know that the greatest scientists were believers in Christ because the Bible confirmed their many discoveries in science. The Golden Age of Industrialism came at the peak of the greatest spiritual revivals over the Earth!
We must have a life surrendered to the Holy Spirit before He can give us spiritual life. Example here is in my intellect, I want something to happen, perhaps a breakthrough in my nation’s bickering and we set out on a plan to crack it, but it does not work. However, the Spiritual Human will receive specific insight from the Holy Spirit as to what needs to be done, and then we will see that golden breakthrough. However, if we live in the flesh or in mind-logged intellectualism clubbed with rationalism, honestly, the Holy Spirit cannot share His secrets and we cannot have that breakthrough. Thus, surrender to the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. Leave all arguments behind and walk through His door!
