July 22 – He is as Close as the Mention of His Name
Psalm 145:18,19: The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and save them.
We have all been hurt sometime, lonely, fearful, disappointed, felt rejected, shamed, ridiculed, lost a loved one and grieving beyond comfort. Know that God sees you pain, He knows you by name and He sees your pain. The Bible says in Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” He actually saves us by taking your pain and giving you special joy, comfort, healing. Sometimes, in tragedies, people feel an extraordinary calm, this is the Spirit of God close to them.
We need His presence for healing. Without His presence, such supernatural healing is impossible. Many people go on prescription drugs for healing, but the Holy Spirit heals us with His presence.
The key is here: All we have to do is open our heart to Him and give Him yourself, believe in Him, and then the miracle transpires. He gives you an exchanged life, joy for sorrow, forgiveness for guilt and sin, healing for pain.
After we open our lives to Him, a new river of life flows from us. He said, “Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’ He meant the Spirit…”
His presence is constantly with us then. We become the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19), and the river within us never runs dry.
God created us to be in close relationship with Him. This doesn’t mean that work is not important to God!
Yes, we need to take special time out for rest and prayer to prevent spiritual dryness, but there is no place where relationship ends and work begins. We do not work for God, we work with God, and our Father doesn’t grade different types of work. Remember, in the beginning He put Adam to work tending the garden. All work can be done to the glory of God (Col. 3:17).
Today, I pray that you will know what it means to be filled to overflowing, and that any spiritual dryness and any persecution trial will be swept away by an encounter with the grace of God.Through hard times, He is waiting for us to call upon His name. He is waiting for you with open arms and will help you and deliver you.
