January 7 – The Weight of His Glory – Devotional Thought

2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”

1 Kings 8:11, a majestic temple was built by King Solomon where the Shekinah glory filled the temple as the king dedicated it to the Lord. The presence of God was so strong that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud of glory. Today, God wants to fill us with His glory, His very presence. As believers, we are temples of the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor. 6:19-20. In that, we are enabled to glorify God in our body and in our spirit.

1. We have to cleanse ourselves to carry His glory. In 2 Cor. 6:14-18, we are told that as the temple of the living God, we are to “be separate,” and “not touch what is unclean,” and then the Lord will receive us as His “sons and daughters.” Verse 7:1 says: “Let us cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord.” We cannot mingle with a world system if we want to carry the weight of His glory. 2. We have to spend quality time in His presence, and continue a conversation with Him all day (as able of course!). As we do that, we behold “the glory of the Lord,” we are “being transformed into the same image from glory to glory” by the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 3:18). 3. Each day, we need to take a quality decision to walk in the Spirit to release the sanctifying power of the Spirit of Glory.

As we do this, the image of Christ is developed in us, and we reflect Him in all His might and glory to a dark, hurting, angry world. It is then that we see the weight of His glory being manifest in and through us and around us.
