January 28 – From Dry Deserts to Springs of Water – A Devotion

1 Corinthians: 10:4 “And all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.”

Here are a few ways you can overcome spiritual dryness.

1. The desert season comes to every believer’s life. God is allowing it for a greater purpose so remember, God is leading you into the desert so that your spiritual senses will become sharper, keener, and more attune to the frequencies in the atmosphere. It is there that we learn to listen more into God. The desert is quiet and still and enables us to stop racing, running, screaming, shouting. Who can we shout to when no one is there.

2. As you sit in the desert, God will start to take you to another realm. As Jesus was in the desert, God takes us through spiritual deserts only to ignite us more to Himself. Sometimes, we are churched out, Twittered out, Facebooked out! Now, we need silence, just us and God!

3. The next step is abiding in the Vine, Jesus Christ. In John 15:5, Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” Suddenly, in abiding, a new strength empowers us.

4. Now drink! The rocks in the desert suddenly start to gush out sweet living waters. 1 Cor. 10:4 “And all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.”

So, we go from spiritual deadness dryness and the valley of dead bones to valleys of springs of sweet waters. A deep talking walking relationship with Christ can only remove this dryness. Let us develop that deeper walk with Him.
