January 20 – Break Free from the Old to Receive the New -A Devotion

Frames of trees

Isaiah 43:18,19 – “Do not remember the former things: neither consider the things of old. Behold I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

A favorite loved verse, we often cling to this, but the wonders of this verse are not released to us if we cling to the past like Lot’s wife, who looked back and turned to a pillar of salt, must have been a kind of nuclear war that was there in Sodom and Gomorrah. In order to receive the new things God wants to do, we have to break free from everything that hinders the work of His Spirit in our lives. 1. We have to weigh our lives, where we are right now, and what we are doing and where we need to break free. There are things that hold us in the earthly realm in bondage such as rage, greed of money and material lusts, anger, unforgiveness, pornography, illicit sex, addictions to drink, smoke, and the list goes on. Clean your heart and keep it pure. If you desire to break free, the Holy Spirit will help you, ask Him. 2. Deliver yourself from false obligations and expectations. People want too much from you, or you expect too much from others. Living in this realm, no one will ever be happy. Let go, let God! 3. Now take a strong stand for your convictions. Once again, ask the Holy Spirit to empower you in this. It may not be easy, so you need supernatural endowment, but do it.

Now, you are ready to walk in the realms of new glory, where God will perform the new thing for you. Now, you are going from faith to faith and glory to glory in this marvelous realm where miracles happen.
