Daniel 6: He rescues and He saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”28. So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
King Nebuchadnezzar took Daniel and other Hebrew youths into captivity in Babylon, to be trained in “the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. The Book of Jeremiah calls Nebuchadnezzar the “destroyer of nations” The King Darius actually liked Daniel because an anointing and cleanness hung over his life. We can learn this from Daniel:
1. Daniel lived in honesty and purity and that was his power.
2. He had a strong prayer life. Prayer is our protection and strength. He had an anointing, which shone through. We too need the anointing and can ask God for it. We cannot live in Nebuchadnezzar’s World without the anointing.
3. Daniel was never provocative; he did not make radical statements to attack the regime of that time. As Christians, we have to be wise, we cannot provoke others. We need to walk in discretion, wisdom praying much for those who hate us. We must learn not to react to their hatred. Daniel never reacted to them, though they accused him falsely. His strength was in the Lord and that alone in the end delivered him.
4. Daniel worked in the system, but he did not compromise his faith. He was respectful, but he never gave in. Because of this, God was able to bestow His anointing on him. If Daniel weakened his will to compromise, he would not have received that supernatural power to shut up the lions’ mouths. When we weaken in our faith and compromise, we lose spiritual ground and power and we start losing all over.
5. Daniel rejected syncretism- In today’s world system, syncretism seems the easy way, and perhaps good way out, but in reality, the clash of beliefs brings spiritual chaos. The spirit of appeasement in the form of syncretism blocks the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives. This is why the present churches are compromised, weak. While being respectful of others and their beliefs, we cannot water down our faith as it represents the law of God working into our lives.
Be a Daniel, and God will fight your battles.
