January 12 – The Mantle of Glory – Devotional Thought

“2 Kings 2:13 As Elisha watched, he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And he saw Elijah no more. So, taking hold of his own clothes, he tore them in two. 13 Elisha also picked up the cloak that had fallen from Elijah, and he went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan. 14Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the waters. “Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” he asked. And when he had struck the waters, they parted to the right and to the left, and Elisha crossed over.…”

When Elijah gave him mantle to Elisha, he suddenly got a double portion of anointing.  More than the physical cloth, it was now a spiritual cloak that was draped around Elisha.

In ourselves we are weak, but Christ says in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’

We really cannot do anything in our own strength. See the most powerful politicians lose grip of their power when another stronger one funded by a higher hierarchy aims to topple them down.  In the day of a great man’s down, no one is around to help them.

We come to the stark reality of hard truth.  We are nothing in ourselves.  But the secret lies here, when we come to zero in Christ, we become His “hero!”  Pride was our barrier and once removed, God can work in us and through us.  If we love Him, He clothes us with His mantle of Glory.  Under this mantle, He anoints us for service in the Kingdom.  The humble and pure hearted see the Kingdom of Heaven under this mantle, and operate to release more healing, deliverance, breakthroughs, salvation of souls and glory, His presence, over Earth.

Under this mantle of glory, walk in faith each day and operate by faith under the mantle.   When you exercise your spiritual authority over death, sickness etc., you will see breakthrough.  Always keep moving forward.  Remember:

  1.  God’s angel armies are accompanying you and protecting you.

  2. You have nothing to fear, for you are hid in Christ.

  3. When God favors you, you also receive favor from humans to achieve His purposes.

Walk closely with Him, worship Him, and most of all, let humility be your strength and then you will receive the mantle of His glory, which is the mantle of anointing.
