February 9 – Ask Others and Prevail Also
Ephesians 3:14-19: Father, I pray that you would grant me, according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened in my inner-man with might by Your Spirit; that You, Jesus, would dwell in my heart by faith, that I, being rooted and grounded in love, would be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, the length, the depth, and the height of Your Love that surpasses all knowledge. That You would fill me with Your fullness, God.
Asking others to pray is important. United prayer is powerful. The danger is many times, we ask others to pray for us, and people enlist in prayer chains to ask for prayer, – wonderful. We need believers praying for us. The trouble starts when we lean on others’ prayers for ourselves and never develop prayer muscles ourselves. We feel “they are covering my back” and then hardly breathe out a pray to God.
God wants us to develop a deeper prayer life with Him, so sometimes, when we lean on others to pray for us, our prayers are mysteriously withheld. It sounds very strange, but is true. Of course, God does hear the collective prayers of believers in His perfect will but if a believer hardly prays themselves for their breakthrough, their lives will be riddled with holes sent by the ammunition of the devil’s guns. Because we don’t pray for ourselves, our spiritual muscles are flabby, loose and weak. So rise up and pray. We have to get rid of personal laziness to pray for ourselves. We have to concentrate and pray and develop a pattern of praying for ourselves to prevent our minds from jumping and wandering.
Here are the few things we can pray for ourselves:
Daily, invite the Holy Spirit to take over, surrender to Him daily. Remember, it is a daily walk, Christ is our daily bread, so surrender daily.
Ask God to forgive you of any unknown sins daily, cleanse and wash you. Wounds in our soul allow entry points for demonic attachments, we need to be healed in our spirits, all the time.
Ask for protection, the covering of the Blood daily for you and your household.
Ask for angels to surround you and your household and deliver you from evil.
Ask for the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you through the day.
Ask for love to fill your heart through the Holy Spirit.
Ask that Christ will destroy the works of Satan planned against you for the day.
Ask for the Holy Spirit to anoint you for the day and use you for God’s glory.
Ask for greater victory over sin.
Ask for good health and strength.
And the list goes on as the Spirit will show you want to pray for. You know what you need to pray for and keep praying and prevailing for yourself each day. We have to learn to pray and prevail for ourselves even before we ask others. Only then will we experience the fullness of Christ in our lives. You will find great joy and peace in prevailing for yourself. In truth, it strengthens you to equip you to pray for others and the world. Unless we are strong, how can we carry the burdens of others and the world? More than anything, our love for Christ will grow.
