February 26 – How to Discern Your Call as a Prophet Intercessor – #prayer, #daily devoti

February 26 – The Signature of a Prophet Intercessor

1 Timothy 2:1-2 2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

If you have the call of a prophet intercessor, you will find these qualities growing in you:

  1. Prayers come very naturally to you.  You love to pray; prayers roll from your lips straight out of your heart and you often cannot understand why people find prayer boring.  You experience a deep sense of satisfaction in prayer – and you are often brought to the right place, at the right time for your God-given assignment to pray on behalf of a person, group, city, nation, or a particular situation.

  2. Many times, you may not have specific knowledge about what you are praying for and you pray in “the realm of ‘mystery’, 1 Corinthians 14:2.  You just know that the Spirit has called you to prayer and you are obedient in this assignment and you will keep praying until the burden has lifted.

  3. You do see very swift and noticeable answers to your prayers.  People would trust you to pray for them and would testify that on asking you to pray, their prayers were answered.  Again, this would not puff you up in spiritual pride because a prophet intercessor is a very humble person. This is why God has entrusted you with this special calling.  Moses, a prophet intercessor was a very humble man, as many others were in the Bible.

  4. You will often carry burdens of prayers, sometimes find yourself weeping while praying and be extraordinarily moved.  This is the burden of the Holy Spirit shared with you. It is a great privilege to carry His burdens. You may have experienced some unusual manifestations of the Holy Spirit when praying (Rom 8:26-27), that others may not understand such as unusual weeping, seeing visions that make you pray differently, or hearing God speak specific words to you that you have to utter, much to the puzzlement of others.

  5. The Holy Spirit will often give you specific revelations of how to pray for something.  He will give you spiritual insight, dreams, visions, and words of utterances. Being very spiritually sensitive, you will see things with a different perspective than your peers, would not readily judge situations because you see beyond.

  6. You differ from a task intercessor, who prays over lists and often needs to be told what to pray about.  It is wonderful and equally powerful to prayer over lists of prayers and specific names given to pray for, and such prayers are miraculously answered this way.

  7. As a prophet intercessor, your prayers are very spontaneous rising from your heart at any time of the day.  You may wake up in the middle of the night or at the crack of dawn, interceding for people or situations or even a nation. There is no time or limits to your prayer times.

  8. You share a deep intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit who in turn fuels your prayer life into living fire.  You have learned to go to secret place of prayer and your prayer life is often hidden though your reward is found in the Presence of God and the blessings He bestows on your life openly.

  9. The ministry of prophetic intercession flourishes in local church community or in the fellowship you may prefer to isolate yourself, especially if you feel misunderstood.  You would need to fully release the burden of the Spirit in prayer and not carry it and never internalize it.
