February 23 – The Illumined Prayer Life
Psalm 119:18: Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.
A friend recently shared with me that as she was praying, she saw believers illumined like lights in the spiritual realm. This illumination is seen by God, His angels, and also Satan and his demons and angels. These last few days, I lost the ability to pray as was going through a terrible trial. With a heavy heart, I was struggling and I lost the ability to pray or even see the light. I needed to see the Light. Only communion with God brings in new illumined light.
Illumination glows in us due to the Living Christ in us and our walk in the Holy Spirit. When we pray, our prayer life too is illumined. This means that the Lord opens our understanding to the spiritual realm, enables us to see God’s plans, and also the bigger purpose in all that happens.
Jesus is the Light, so He illumines truths to us and illumines our souls when He dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. He enlightens everything, and in His Light, we see light. We receive this Light by walking in the Holy Spirit and living in the Word of God, obeying its truths and meditating on the Word. The psalmist says, “Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.” This is the secret, finding light in the word which illumines us more and more.
Learn to seek Him, and as you do, He will start to illumine your life. Darkness around you will flee and spiritual truths will get enlightened. People who do dark deeds hate the light and feel uncomfortable. So, such people never want to pray for illumination and evade spiritual truth and light. The light blinds their eyes.
Today pick up a new challenge, even if it is uncomfortable, ask the Lord to illumine your understanding and see new truths in His light. In time, your prayer life will show you new truths, and also illumine you in the dark. When the kingdom of darkness sees you illumined, they flee. The wonderful thing is as you are illumined, the Kingdom of Light draws near to you.
One pastor recently said that often after a person is delivered from demons, they are fine for a season, but afterwards, the same demons return, sometimes with more force. It reminds us of the verse, Luke 11:24: When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’Matthew 12:44: Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ On its return, it finds the house vacant, swept clean and put in order.Luke 11:26: Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the final plight of that man is worse than the first.” If a person does not fill themselves with the Holy Spirit, in surrender everyday, that empty space in their soul gives place for reentry of stronger demons. Thus, it is vital to continue in a living relationship with Christ everyday. This is our only victory, this illumines us, empowers us and we live from strength to strength, glory to glory.
Living an illumined life of prayer also gives you strength over persecution, and victory. The illumined life of prayer will also bring many souls into the Kingdom and draw many souls unto Jesus because the Light of Jesus shines through us.
