February 20 – How to Build a Prayer Altar – #Prayer

February 20 – How to Build a Prayer Altar

Genesis 13:18:  Then Abram moved his tent and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and there he built an altar to the Lord.

Today, we can worship God anywhere and are not confined to only a place, church or “shrine.” However, over the years, I have had strong believer friends and noted that they are very particular about having a family prayer altar and have witnessed them being protected miraculously from harm, danger, attacks, and seen blessing rise in their homes.  In today’s world of persecution, hatred, and even deadly diseases rising, calamities and disasters, I feel it is very necessary that each home has a prayer altar.

Here are a few steps on how to build a family prayer altar:

  1.  First, find a place in your home that you want to consecrate for prayer.  You could even have it on the floor, or anywhere as the Lord shows you. Let it be a place that will not have interruptions.

  2. While some may disagree, but buy a bottle of oil, pray over it, and anoint it with oil.  The New Testament also tells us to anoint the sick person with oil, so it is not wrong to anoint with oil.  In fact, many of us have seen breakthrough when we anoint ourselves or someone with oil. It is not the oil, but the faith offered with it that blesses the act and oil.  Moses used anointing oil for The Tabernacle, Exodus 30:26. It was made with different spices. Today, you can just use olive oil or any other oil. Olive oil is considered pure, which is why it is the preferred oil. Make a circle of that oi around the area that you want covered for the altar.

  3. After this, ask the Lord to take over, invite God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit into your home and the altar and invite the angels to surround the altar each time you pray.

  4. The oil may fade with time, you can mark it weekly as an act of faith.  Please do not place any pictures, idols of Jesus or Mary for all this is idolatry and the Bible is very clear about not placing idols or pictures or we will start to worship and pray to the idols and pictures and God will be replaced by another spirit.

  5. Let this place be consecrated, a time of worship and prayer to the Lord daily.

You will see a big change in situations and your home when you are faithful at the daily altar.  Something happens when we pray together. A family that prays together stays together!
