February 11 – Praise is the Most Powerful Prayer

February 11 – Praise is the Most Powerful Prayer

Psalm 149: 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

Sometimes, we keep on praying for the same thing over and over again and nothing moves.  Years ago, in 2008, I was perhaps drowning in dark waters of which I thought would be no return!  I found it even difficult to pray and even open my Bible. One night I had a dream. I dreamt I was in a place which was dark and full of slimy brownish creatures, (demons).  In my dream I kept rebuking them, and they would creep away, but they kept coming back after some time.

I was finally exhausted in this dream.  Later, in my dream, I finally started to sing a song.  I first sang a song I knew but later, I started singing words of a new song, which were made instantly, new words, a new song, which was beautiful.  In my dream, my voice rung out loudly…and then the little demons started to flee!

Suddenly the sky turned around me turned brilliant blue and the air became clear and clean and beautiful.  In my dream, I could hear my own voice singing and as I awoke, I could still hear echoes of the song resounding.

I got up with an amazing clean washed pure feeling as if I had met with the Lord in a special encounter in that dream.  It was a powerful illumination of secret warfare of the songs of praise that have the power to dissipate demons. There is a verse, Psalm 149:6 “May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands.”  I believe Jesus revealed something new about the spiritual warfare of praise. From that day onwards, I got breakthrough in my situation and I started to come out of the dark waters and my situation started to change, more importantly something changed within me. In the next few days, I opened the Bible and the verse fell on my eye very clearly as if the Lord was speaking to me directly, ” And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord” Psalm 40:3.

If you are too tired to pray or think, raise your hands and praise Him. If you cannot sing, start by listening to worship songs, meditate on the words, and let the words minister to you, do not focus on the tune or voice.  Let the power of worship words lift you to a higher realm, the realm of worship where angels sing praises to God and demons flee. This realm filled with light and love melts out all the blotches of fear, demons, knots and ties and complications sent by the kingdom of darkness.  In the spirit of praise, you are now transplanted into the Kingdom of Light. Miracles happen in the realm of praise.  We know that when Paul and Silas sang in prison, the earth rumbled and their chains fell off.  The Light of Jesus entered the prison and the other prisoners got to hear the Gospel message and many believed.  Sometimes God allows us to go to dungeons to set prisoners free. Ultimately, our songs of praise set others and also ourselves free.  Paul and Silas were eventually freed from prison, but with a greater testimony and song to their lives.

Keep on singing and worshiping the Lord throughout the day, let it not be only once a day or once a week.  May worship and praise become a lifestyle.
