Building a Prayer Life Series – February
February 4 – The Divine Phone Call
Jeremiah 33:3: ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Prophet Jeremiah wrote the above verse, inspired by the Holy Spirit when he was living in the dark dungeons as a prisoner. In that dark hour, God commanded him to pray to Him and He would uncover secrets. He understands what heavy hearts we have sometimes, when under a sense of sin. Satan taunts us to stop praying. We may utter that are prayers are not being answered, and God seems far away, but the Bible tells us to pray without ceasing and let the Holy Spirit take over, cry out the desires of your aching heart.
Jesus says “Call unto Me for I am the Great Physician. Do you lack things? – Call unto Me for I am Jehovah Jireh. Are you afraid? Call unto Me for I am Your protector? Are you facing persecution? Call unto Me for I will deliver you. Call unto Me if your burden is like a ton of stones, threatening to break beneath its load. Call unto Me for I will never let righteous be moved.
God takes the initiative: “Call unto Me.” God says to Jeremiah, “Call Me!” Jerimiah 33:3 is like God’s phone number to us. Take advantage of this privilege and call unto Him, you will never be disappointed.
Prayer is humility before God and God always rewards this. We need to develop a life of prayer besides our calling out in trouble. This will enable us to develop the art of prayer as a habit. This becomes part of our lifestyle. In this spirit, we also need to pray for others.
It is said that before we pray, it is also good to read the Bible first and then pray, but God will lead you accordingly, prayer is a cry from the heart. As long as we don’t marginalize the Word, we can pray as the Spirit leads.
If you feel God is speaking a Word through your prayers, or when you read the Bible, write it down. Some of us see visions when we pray, note them down. God’s promises come true in their season. While we may feel nothing is happening, God’s opens new doors in His seasons of blessings, so keep the fire of faith burning inside and never get discouraged.
If you are alone, pray aloud, for it stops your mind from wandering, and your words resound in the air full of prayer, there is power in praying aloud. It is said the air carries the frequency of sound; thus, our words should be faith-filled flowing with the power of the Holy Spirit.
Above all, through swirling seas among dark jagged rocks, rugged wild mountains and floral-green valleys, develop the art of prayer and you will capture the heart of God. Then, in times of trouble when you call, Jeremiah 33:3 will be your Divine phone call! And believe me, God will never disappoint you! He loves you so much.
