Brutal Rape, Torture of 7-Year-Old Girl in Ayodhya But an Indifferent India

A series of rapes on children are occuring in the nation, some brutally murdered after being raped, but the nation is rather silent.

Another horrific rape occurred of a 7-year-old girl occurred in Ayodhya sliting her throat and stuffing her mouth with mud after raping her where the rapist stuffed her mouth with mud as she was crying, and slit her throat with intent to murder her but she survived. While speaking with journalists later, the child’s shocked father even nearly fainted, as he kept pleading for justice for his daughter after the barbaric rape.

Reportedly, the horrific incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the girl was playing hide and seek with other children of her age.  Later, she did not return home as the evening crept in and her anxious parents began a search operation said Shailesh Pandey, superintendent of police, Ayodhya.

Then at around 9.30 pm, she was found lying in a pool of blood at Mohalla Bairag Pura in the local Kotwali police station area. The police were informed about this and the girl was admitted to a hospital.

SP Shailesh Pandey said a massive manhunt was lodged and on the basis of CCTV footage the accused was spotted and late arrested. The accused, who was working nearby, found the survivor alone and took her to a secluded place where he raped her. “When the victim screamed, the accused fled away,” said the SP.

Doctors at the hospital said that the survivor was in a serious condition.  (The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)

The survivor is recovering at a government hospital. “The perpetrator, identified as Ram Manjhi, has been arrested and sent to the jail,” said police.

In this case, it is imperative to mention that the 7-year-old girl was a Brahim child because while media channels are discussing Kashmir Files hysterically throughout the day talking incessantly about the crimes committed to Kashmir Brahmins, and holding animated emotional discussions which are not only elevating their Television Rating Point (TRPs) but also triggering anti-Muslim sentiments over the nation, they could not cover a line for a monstrous rape of a “Brahmin Child”.

Ordinarily, I would not mention the caste or religion of anyone, nor do we ever think of someone’s religion or caste when a crime is committed on them.  We normally grieve for any wrong inflicted on any human. When Nirbhaya was brutally raped and murdered on December 16, 2012, the whole nation was on the streets asking for justice for her. We never sought to find out her religion or caste, while also her name and face were concealed to the public to protect her privacy. It never occurred to Indians to find out her religion or caste, nor did we hear anyone talking about it.  No one voiced “a Hindu girl was raped.”  Perhaps much later, after finding out who her brave parents and brother were, we discovered she probably was a Hindu but that was never the focal point of the tragedy.

When someone is raped or killed in today’s scenario, the main media selectively hypes religion and caste as their ammunition to divide communities.  Perhaps, this is on instructions of those higher up in authority and it is a targetted pattern.  Since the rape of this 7-year-old child favors no mileage for their propaganda, they did not cover it.

Now, had the rapist been a Muslim who had raped a Brahmin or any Hindu child, the main media would be furiously covering it in frenzied hysteria and thousands of people would throng on the streets demanding the death of the rapist highlighting that the rapist was a Muslim.  This is how whited sepulchered the main media and a vast majority of people in India have become.

How India has changed in eight years! It has not become a very polarized nation, due to some imagined fears that Muslims will take over India, a 16% community that is generally repressed to rule?  Yes, a lot of Indians, yes, indeed because people voted for a government that aims to divide communities, not unite.

Journalist, Paurush Sharma brings out the harsh realities of the brutality inflicted on the girl and the hollowness of the main media which failed to mention such a heinous crime in the video.
