Black Friday! A New Kind of Violence Stalking the Streets in India and who is to Blame?

Two horrific events happened today, Friday, which shocked the nation once again, and while the BJP party played the blame game, who is really to blame?

In the first horror on Black Friday, a video emerged on social media that showed the mutilated body of a 34-year-old man strung to a police barricade near the protest site along the Delhi-Haryana border at Singhu.  His hand was chopped off as well as both legs, and he was left to bleed to death. The Haryana Police has filed an FIR in the case and said the investigation is underway.

The police probe the role of Nihang Sikhs and the SP said, ‘There are several videos circulating where some Nihang Sikhs have claimed that the unidentified man disrespected their holy book’ where according to police, the initial probe indicates that the Nihang Sikhs, a warrior group, allegedly killed him on suspicion of disrespecting the Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib by tearing it up.

Amit Malviya, in charge of BJP’s IT Cell, tweeted: “Had Rakesh Tikait not justified mob lynching in Lakhimpur, with Yogendra Yadav, sitting next to him, maintaining sanctimonious silence, the gory murder of a youth at Kundali border would not have happened.”

He also said, Anarchists behind these protests in the name of farmers need to be exposed,” he said. Tikait just days back during the Indian Today conclave said lynching of the BJP workers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri, was primarily a “reaction to the action”.

The victim was identified as Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Cheema Kalan Village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. The village sarpanch, Avan Kumar, and the local DSP, Sucha Singh, confirmed his identity.

However, why on earth would Tikait want to tarnish the farmers’ names and weaken their protests at this time by instigating such an event and the SKM Farmers Movement firmly deny any involvement.

In another barbaric event, four people were killed and twenty severely injured as an SUV deliberately mowed down a religious procession in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district on Friday.

A video captures the horrific moment in the incident that took place at Pathalgaon in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur and as per the media report, four have been killed and others are said to be critical.

The murder happened when people were going in a procession for Durga Visarjan.

After the incident, the angry mob has set the car on fire. According to the information, this car was filled with ganja (marijuana). Ruling out any communal angle to the crime, the killers are said to be Hindus, and were from Madhya Pradesh carrying drugs in their SUV.

According to the report, the incident happened at Pathalgaon in Jashpur around 1.30 PM on Friday. At the time of the incident, the people were taking the idols of 7 Durga pandals to the river bank for immersion.

The Chattisgarh police arrested the driver and fellow travelers immediately and an investigation is on.

However, Amit Malviya, BJP IT cell leader tried to bring a communal angle to it as is the BJP agenda, event when none, and he tweeted, “A speeding vehicle runs over a Hindu religious procession in Jashpur, Chattisgarh, without any provocation whatsoever. This is second such instance of communal profiling and assault on Hindus while CM @bhupeshbaghel is busy helping the Gandhi siblings find political ground in UP.  Once again, BJP workers set off  hashtags on Twitter blaming Congress CM Bhupesh Baghel for “killing Hindus” and blaming the farmers for killing Lakhbir Singh this morning inciting the communal sparks once again.

Violence Everywhere:  There is a fresh rampage of violence stalking the streets of India and while the ruling party keeps blaming all other groups, the violence appears to be politically triggered as in the case of Lakhimpur Kheri where the Uttar Pradesh Union Minister’s son, Ashish Mishra mowed down the farmers and was only arrested after intense public outrage remaining absconding for days despite eyewitnesses and video evidence revealing he was in the SUV.

Also in the videos, we see people carrying Bhindrawala T-shirts and carrying his flags.  It appears that infiltrates apart from the farmers sneak in as farmers never move with these flags or T-shirts in any of their protests.  However, it has become apparent that in riots, malicious agents insidiously creep in to add another flavor to protests turning them into riots, once again politically motivated to either defame the farmers’ protests and other protests.

In the Chattisgarh mowing down, once again the BJP took to Twitter to condemn the Congress government; however, the attackers were arrested immediately and the SUV, traveling from Madhya Pradesh, was filled with ganja, marijuana and while people wanted to make it about religion, the people in the SUV were Hindus, namely two drug traffickers from Madhya Pradesh, Bablu Vishwakarma and Shishupal Sahu who mowed down innocent Hindu devotees in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh.and had they been of another religion, perhaps another round of riots would be triggered from the ruling party.

Who is to Blame?: Why is one blaming the ruling party for this? Surely, they could govern better with peace and harmony? Unfortunately, no, the BJP government will not stay in power very long unless they give a communal color to everything and this is evident by the fake videos of the BJP IT cell revealed multiple times, the inciting hate comments of certain BJP ministers against different communities and also the present move to defame the farmers by giving a Khalistani angle to it, which incidentally is not there.

The government works along communal lines  by creating a fear psychosis in the minds of the majoritarian Hindus that they were in danger, Hindu Khatre Mein Hain making them believe that the 16% Islamists would rule India or the 2% Christians would convert India to Christianity and with these fears, certain fanatic groups started to suppress people of different religions, crush them and even kill them. In the meantime, the population started to feel that only BJP could protect them from all outsiders and invaders.

For the first time, Muslims and Christians, though ethnicially Indian started being treated as foreigners, and while crowds voted for BJP for their safety, they closed their eyes to the violence on the streets that was killing all, and mostly Hindus were being murdered too, such as the farmers and others, so did BJP create a safe India for everyone?

Since 2014 ever since PM Modi took over, for the first time in the history of India, JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, and other universities were attacked, and the perpetrators were discovered to have BJP roots, then the anti-CAA riots once again had strange elements that burned up vehicles, and attacked people and after the rampage, the attackers would disappear, lynching and killing of Muslims grew, Dalits were lynched, raped, murdered in strings of attacks over different states.  Farmers too were gunned down and attacked, mowed, and murdered in different rampages.

Chaos was erupting all over the nation and each time we would think the government would calm things down, instead would discover that they instigated the violence such as Ashish Mishra in the recent attacks.  The fake videos that were circulated by the BJP IT cells to spur on anger against different groups succeeded in creating more communal violence.   It became apparent that the government was not in the business of bringing in tranquility in India and now and then, a BJP minister would utter an inciting statement to set up sparks in the nation.

Today, India is witnesses a new kind of madness stalking the streets, SUVs mowing down people! India is reaching uncontrollable escalations of violence, most of it engineered by powerful people in high positions. Today, the SUV that killed many came from Madhya Pradesh and the vehicle full of marijuna could have been drug dealers, empowered, entitled people who usually get let off the hook easily and the madness continues.

In the midst of all this, the Prime Minister of India maintains a sanctimonious silence and if he had spoken to the nation in these troubled times to calm down agitated Indians, India would not have reached this pinnacle of violence and hatred because his silence sends a message of approval to the rioters.  As Plato said, “I shall assume that your silence gives consent.”
