August 2 – Breaking a Hedge
Ecclesiastes 10:8: He that digs a pit shall fall into it; and he that breaks a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
We often utter, how can a loving God let this happen? We see the evil, chaos, killings, disasters all over that globe occurring rampantly and endlessly. It seems God could do so much to prevent these horrors. True, but another part of the picture is, God did not do that evil. We may say, “yeah, and all the horrible things happening to good people too.” Yes, it is happening to all. Only in eternity will we know why. All we know is that God grabbed those family’s attention in a deeper way. We do know that through tragedy, many people start seeking out God more. It is often realized by the people who lost their loved ones that at that time, they were probably so busy with their lives that they hardly prayed together or rarely interceded for the safety of their loved ones. A lot of things could have been avoided, but it was too late. But in God’s grace, He redeems our mistakes and pours grace and healing. The hope is that we will meet our loved ones in Heaven and they are in a beautiful glorious place and given a choice, they wouldn’t want to come back to earth!
Tragedy hits the nations today because people turned away from the true living God. They may claim to know God but if people hate, kill and attack each other, they don’t know God. The atmosphere of a nation is controlled by the majority of thought waves. If the majority of people in the nation think in a particular way, that atmosphere is built over that country. Satan and his demons build their fortresses in the air over that nation. Satan is the god of the air and his fallen angels and demons flood that atmosphere.
When people walk in rage and rebellion, or even use religion for material and political ends, they are calling in evil spirits to abode with them. People are trying to change the Word to suit their own lusts and desires. The Word of God can never be changed. The walls of protection start to vanish and crumble down around us. Foxes start to enter through the holes in our walls and invade our lives. The Bible says, little foxes spoil the vine. Our work, our families, our lives start to get plagued by those little foxes sent by Satan.
The only answer is turn back to God. Repentance means change of mind. Our repentance allows God to seal the holes in our hedges and build a new wall of protection around us, surrounded by His angels.
May we be wise and turn to God today, have a change of heart and turn to Him. He casts out all darkness, and sends warrior angels to fight all powers of wickedness. He puts a firewall where we enter and then we are now in His holy center!
