April 8 – Prayer can change the world!

April 8 – Prayer can change the world

You might say that there is nothing we can do, it is in God’s hands so why pray.  Then why did God tell us to pray? Why do humans have a natural inborn desire to pray?  Because the Creator gave it to us.

It is true; we are living in the worst times of the history of the world, but we are called to pray because prayer changes everything.  We observe the rise in prayer in the history of change and reformation, invention and creativity.

“Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God.” – St. John Damascene

“It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without heart.” – Mahatma Gandhi

“Whether we realize it or not, prayer is the encounter of God’s thirst with ours. God thirsts that we may thirst for Him.” – St. Augustine

“Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of Containing God’s gift of Himself.” – Mother Theresa

“Do not make prayer a monologue…make it a conversation.” – Author Unknown

“Prayer is the song of the heart. It reaches the ear of God even if it is mingled with the cry and tumult of a thousand men.” Kahlil Gibran

Today, we are witnessing arrows of destruction hitting people with hate crimes, racial murders, spirits of homicide, suicide, terrorism stalking people all over the nations, rape rise by the hour, incest, bestiality, and child trafficking and child rapes, and robbery, and inhumane madness stalking our world.  Our own lack of care to the Earth brought on changes in the Earth, eating wild creatures brought on new viruses and ecological disasters such as eating bats.

The coronavirus stalked the world taking 2 million lives.  There is a venomous enemy lurking around in homes, causing rifts, tiffs, criticism, hidden anger, resentment, rage.

On speaking with some social workers, they mention that suicides and drug addictions have escalated and they hear of suicides every day. People die sudden deaths, died of drugs, or committed suicide.  These are tough times, bad politicians and greedy people.

1 Peter 5:8:  Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

This is why we need to rise and pray!  We cannot afford to be drowsy at dawn for only then will we see mighty change.
