A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30 This is a powerful life verse. Envy rots the bones. In the Hebrew it literally means envy makes the bones disintegrate. There is a connection between the spiritual and the physical. Our body, soul, spirit are intricately connected. What our mind soaks up has an impact on our health. If your heart is at peace, it gives life to the body. Envy/anger/jealousy, negative emotions cause the bones of the body to disintegrate. We often get ailments such as arthritis, heart problems, etc due to a negative mindset – though not always, but a lot of times. Some things we can do to maintain an environment to a peaceful heart 1. Develop a deeper relationship with God. Spend time with Him. In His presence, we get peace. We have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1. Receive Him…He is our Peace. 2. Dwell on good things, the Bible teaches us do this. Read things that inspire us, fill us with hope and joy. 3. Forgive. We get healing and peace when we forgive. In the recent shootout, a father declared that he had forgiven his son’s killer. Such forgiveness can only come from a man who is already at peace in his heart. While this verse refers to believers among ourselves, we have to forgive others too. Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted and gentle, forgiving one another as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.” There are people who are suffering physically because they are angry, bitter and refuse to forgive. 4. Cultivate a heart to see the supernatural, ask the Lord to show you things beyond the natural. A life in the Holy Spirit enables this. When we see glimpses of eternity, even in daily life, our perspectives enlarge and we develop new lines in our brain and start to think more Some folks even have seen angels, or visions, the connection with the Holy Spirit heals us filling us with joy, we think of Heaven, which enables us to let go of the petty things we hold on to in life. Colossians 3:1-3 says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds of things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” 5. Proverbs 15:15, says, “The cheerful heart has a continual feast.” This happens by living a life of praise. Power in Praise a book by Merlin Carothers has helped millions to understand the dimension of praising God through the day every day of our lives, in all times. 6. Don’t encourage people who are constantly grumbling about everything. Discussing things are different but a negative spirit permeates the air. Stop them if you can. A person who is constantly angry or grumbles has a demonic attachment, with entry points and those enter our lives at some point. I have seen this happen, seen people who after living with an angry person for years start to get the same anger. Seen husband and wives develop the same spirit of connivance, anger, or cunning because they start to share the same spirits. We cannot leave for example family members. So change them, supernaturally! Put on the armor everyday, walk in Peace and your own Peace will transform them in time! 7. Love: Love transcends all things. It is the most powerful emotion, quality in the world. We often belittle Love as weak, but it is not. People live on revenge of generations ago. Revenge politics is rampart here today where I live. They do not realize that this revenge will take them backwards. Love will heal people. God is LOVE. Love pours out of Yeshua. We cannot Love without having the Love of the Saviour in us because He is the epitome of the greatest Love. Receive His Love everyday, and set out your heart to practically display Love to others. Do constant acts of kindness, and you will feel that Love start to heal your heart, your bones and your soul. God bless you! Rita F. Kurian
