15 bills passed in Parliament in 10 minutes with Opposition mikes muted

In the Indian Parliament, fifteen bills were passed hastily in 10 minutes muffling the Opposition parties by muting their mikes in a totally shocking unconstitutional act.  The inherent rule by the Indian Constitution mandates a discussion between the Government and Opposition to discuss bills before being passed. This is the unspoken rule in every democratic nation.

Leader of Congress Rahul Gandhi tweeted:

Not allowed to discuss on MSP On justice for the martyr Annadata On the dismissal of the Union Minister in the Lakhimpur case…

Who snatched the right of discussion from the Parliament, It is a failure, that government is a coward.

— Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) November 29, 2021

Delhi Pradesh Congress Sevadal tweeted, “Following parliamentary procedure is the duty of an elected government. It encourages debate, dialogue and upholds the rights of every voter.

Disregarding the very system of the parliament is a huge dent to democracy and an insult of the constitution.

The Congress, however, cited 17 repeal Bills which, it said, were discussed. In the Lok Sabha, TMC, TRS, and DMK MPs were in the well when Tomar introduced the Bill at noon. Speaker Om Birla said he would allow a debate if the parliamentarians returned to their seats, but they did not.

After the repeal, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said the government was terrified of discussing farmers’ issues.

“We wanted to have a discussion on the MSP, Lakhimpur Kheri violence, and on 700 deceased farmers but that was not allowed. The government is terrified. It does not have the guts to stand up for its actions,” Rahul said. He added that the PM had apologized to the nation which meant he accepted that his fault led to the death of 700 farmers.

“The government will have to give compensation to the families of 700 deceased farmers,” Rahul said, accusing the Centre of insulting the farmers by stating in the repeal Bill that “only a small group of farmers are protesting.”

The House proceedings is expected to be disrupted until a debate is allowed as Opposition parties said they would keep insisting on a discussion on the legal guarantee for MSP.

Both Houses were adjourned after the passage of the repeal Bill with no other legislative agenda taken up today.

The BJP government by passing 15 bills in 10 minutes muting the Opposition mikes has sabotaged the spirit of the Constitution by canceling the proper protocol of discussion that always commences before passing of Bills.

The BJP government must also remember that when the Congress government was in power, they never muted BJP mikes and the BJP was given full and free license to scream in Parliament in their rowdy, noisy and disruptive way. Also, the BJP government must remember that Congress allowed the Indian Media to holler against them about the price of onions and yell their lungs out with petrol was raised by Rs. 1 during the Congress rule.  Today, Indian Media cannot utter a word against the BJP Government. Where is democracy?
