The Rickety House
There once stood a rickety house Ruined, broke and wrecked Hungry mice ran around Broken wooden beams unchecked The angry wind whistled down The cracked chimney each night Oh that house was hidden In the cold lonely wilderness With no human soul in sight
Then the wonderful Maker came And visited that dilapidated house He cleaned it and out ran the mice! Splintered wooden beams He repaired Each dark damp corner He touched The fragmented floor He didn’t spare His love mended all the wear and tear Soon the house, glowing and polished And brought to a sparkle under His care
That house is your very own soul Barbed wires and ashen-dark coals God takes out thorns to make you whole In His time, a touch from His hand Will make trembling feeble legs stand So no matter how down you go When you turn to El Shaddai in prayer He transforms a ramshackle house To a beautiful one under His loving care!
