Greed in a human heart Takes that hungry soul Through meandering dangerous paths A soul looking for a pot of gold Searching, insatiable, bold For money, fame, power, control
Grabbing greed is never full Empty, and never whole Going around on an endless ride Always looking for corners to hide
Greed does not hear the cry of warning Never sees golden sunrise dawning Jumps to the path of Of an evil stranger calling
Greed for that pot of gold One day falls into a poisonous pit And by venomous vipers is bit Greed still not realizes it is hit Deadened to death and dangers
Crying in the pit’s howling wilderness No one around to be greed’s defender… So greed meanders on to a bitter lonely end Greed is never ever fulfilled At life’s journeys last bend. 1 Timothy 6:9 – But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
