Memories haunt when fed with thoughts Unwanted intrusions like ghosts unsought Flooding the mind like dirty gray drain waters Inundating senses with the stench of rotten gutters In the ticking of time, thoughts start to eat the brain Racing and hammering, one falls under the strain The secret to stop that crazy race in the fragile brain Is to stop feeding the brain with the train of thoughts Do a cleansing swishing soul wash deep inside Throw out lodged thoughts that creep and hide Then, creepers of parasites that feed on redundant thought Undernourished, unfed, start to shrivel when thoughts stop Ugly old haunting memories like dead leaves start to drop Then without pain, those thoughts die and fall off to the ground Then new buds of healing Spring sings a sweet sound A new season to heal pain and wash away stains A new season to nourish with sunshine, joy and rain When old leaves fall to give way to the new buds and leaves In that golden burst in time, the broken heart no longer grieves
