Many times, women all over the world Through many cultures and ages Were hit by shame in disintegrating stages Wept in sinking shadows in fading light Regarded not as a precious unique person But a possession, property, obedient wife Were forbidden to be seen or heard Kept away from tables of mighty men Barred from men’s victory dens Voiceless, loveless without rights Horror and sorrow was their plight Broken and isolated in gray twilight They stumbled on in No Man’s stony land Bruising their feet on the burning sand
But now you are rising in faith O Women!
